Third graders wrapped up a unit on Jon Sciezka a while ago. We started with The True Story of the Three Little Pigs by A. Wolf as told to Jon Sciezka. This allowed us to talk a bit about point of view. Next was the Caldecott honor book The Stinky Cheese Man which included The Princess and the Bowling Ball, Little Red Running Shorts, and other variations on well-known tales. We also read Math Curse (featuring  Ms. Fibonacci) and Science Verse (Mr. Newton). Ask your daughter if everything really can be seen as either a math problem or a science experiment.
